Swimming Lessons
Kids from 5 to 14 can progress through six stages of classes as they learn to swim, work to refine strokes, and advance their water skills.
The YMCA of the Greater Tri-Valley provides high-quality swimming lessons in 7-week sessions throughout the entire year. We provide 7 weeks of lessons with an eighth week reserved for any make-up lessons and registration period.
Our swim lesson instructors are thoroughly trained for safety and quality instruction to overall teach your children to be safe around water and reduce the risk of childhood drownings.
We do not currently offer Swim Lesson Registration online. Registration must be done either in-person at your YMCA Branch, or sometimes over the phone. Please call your branch for specific registration details.

The YMCA Staff are here to help you ensure your child is safely placed in the appropriate class. If your child is a true beginner, they will be automatically placed in the beginner class for their age group. If they have participated in swimming lessons before- either at our YMCA, another facility or swimming with your family, we will conduct a swim test. This swim test will be conducted by our trained aquatics staff and tests for essential skillsets.
