YMCA of the Greater Tri-Valley

A New Future for Archery at the Oneida Family YMCA

The YMCA has constructed a new state-of-the-art indoor archery range.   This expansion space will be located on the back of the YMCA facility, off of the existing gymnasium. The archery range expansion is part of the ongoing and growing archery program - Character Development through Archery - which has been an integral part of YMCA program offerings for more than seven years.

“The indoor archery range will attract athletes from all over the region as it will be the only archery range within the area and allow us to partner with schools and other organizations," said YMCA of the Greater Tri-Valley CEO Hank Leo.

"Our program has grown tremendously, having served over 600 participants in the past six years. Having an indoor range gives the program an indoor space for shooting all year round. This space will allow for tournaments, workshops, open shooting, archery leagues, instruction, and more."

The ribbon-cutting on the new expansion took place last week.

The Oneida Y received $40,000 for the program from YMCA of the USA, and the program's participants and their families raised $15,000 toward the expansion. The larger donors include Oneida Health, Oneida Savings Bank Charitable Foundation, the Oneida Indian Nation and more.

Our participation in USA Archery and NFAA Events allows participants to compete against other archery events across the country. Archers interested in competitive scores are able to compete and rank nationally as they progress in their skills.
